Overview

In this Privacy Policy, MyGutful, we, us, and our refer to the team operating the MyGutful website, waitlist, mobile app, and related services. We are committed to handling personal information with care and in line with applicable privacy laws.

This policy explains what information we collect through the MyGutful website and app, how we use it, when it may be shared, and how you can delete your data. We may update this policy from time to time by publishing a new version on this page.

What personal information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with MyGutful, we may collect information such as:

  • your email address and first name (if provided) when you join the waitlist;
  • account identifiers and email address if you sign in to the app;
  • plant food logs, stool logs, weekly wrap-up check-in ratings, weekly summaries or wrap-up snapshots, journey progress, reflections, and badge progress you create in the app;
  • profile and preference data such as baseline intake, weekly target, birthdate, sex, country, language, theme, reminder settings, added-sugar preference, and stool-visibility preference;
  • device and record metadata such as a device identifier, platform, app version, and build version, which may be stored locally with app records and included with synced profile or record metadata if you sign in and use cloud sync; and
  • if app analytics is configured, app interaction, screen, touch, and error analytics.

How we collect personal information

We may collect personal information directly from you or through the systems we use to operate MyGutful. For example, information may be collected when you:

  • submit the waitlist form on the website;
  • use the mobile app;
  • create an account, sign in, or enable cloud sync;
  • edit your profile, settings, or reminder preferences;
  • allow local notification permissions;
  • receive waitlist confirmation or update emails; or
  • interact with our analytics, authentication, hosting, email delivery, and cloud-sync providers.

Why we collect, use, and disclose information

We may collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information to:

  • provide, maintain, secure, and improve MyGutful;
  • store your local app data, account data, synced cloud data, and settings;
  • manage waitlist signups, onboarding, product access, and email updates;
  • send launch updates, service messages, and other communications you ask for;
  • understand app usage patterns, diagnose crashes or other issues, and improve the experience;
  • operate optional account, authentication, and cross-device sync features; and
  • meet legal, regulatory, and operational obligations.

Local device storage, cloud sync, and notifications

MyGutful is designed as an offline-first app. App data is primarily stored locally on your device, including plant logs, stool logs, profile data, journey state, wrap-up snapshots, related settings, and record metadata such as device identifiers used by the app.

If you sign in and cloud sync is enabled, certain app data is also copied to our cloud services so it can sync across sessions or devices. Synced data may include profile data, plant entries, stool entries, week completions, weekly wrap-ups, user journey state, badge progress, and related device metadata used for sync and conflict resolution.

If you enable notifications, MyGutful schedules reminder notifications locally on your device.

Direct marketing

We may send you marketing or product-related messages where permitted by law or where you have asked to hear from us. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe option in our emails or by contacting us.

Who we may share information with

We may disclose personal information to trusted service providers and partners who help us operate MyGutful, such as hosting, authentication, cloud database and sync, analytics, and email delivery providers. We may also disclose information where required to comply with law, protect our users, enforce our terms, or support a business restructure or transfer.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use may store or process information outside your country of residence. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to work with providers that offer appropriate privacy and security protections.

App analytics

If app analytics is configured, we may collect analytics and technical event data such as screens viewed, touches or interactions, crashes, and related app diagnostics. If you sign in, those analytics events may be associated with your app account identifier and email address.

Data retention and deletion

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve MyGutful, and to comply with legal obligations. Retention differs depending on the type of data and whether you use the app only locally or with a signed-in synced account.

If you use MyGutful without signing in, your app data remains stored on your device until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app.

If you sign in and use cloud sync, your synced cloud data is retained until you delete your account. Signed-in users can delete their account from the app's account settings. That flow is designed to sync pending changes, delete synced cloud records, delete the authentication account, and purge associated local scoped data from the device.

Waitlist information is retained while we manage the waitlist, launch updates, and unsubscribe records. We may retain unsubscribe information so we can respect opt-out requests.

If you want to request deletion of personal information that is not removed through the in-app delete-account flow, contact us through https://www.mygutful.app/contact.

Security

We take reasonable technical, administrative, and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Access, corrections, and complaints

You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or raise a privacy concern by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If you believe we have handled your information improperly, please contact us first so we can investigate and respond.
